By ‘Local’ this section covers communities from the local neighbourhood, to the county, Provence, state, up to national & regional.
This community is all about grass-roots people power. Each one of these above listed communities must take responsibility for their own local area. With other local communities from around the world taking care of their own local areas too means that much can be done.
Broad ideas that can be implemented by the local community are;
Organise farmer’s market in order to buy local produce
Regenerate local biodiversity, native flora & fauna, by organising local flora regeneration groups to plant natives in your area, and weed out weeds.
Rally to conserve & regenerate local ecosystems – organise a local group to monitor the local ecology and put in means to conserve & regenerate it. Be aware of any endangered ecosystem in your local community & take / join action to either conserve or regenerate it.
Organise local environmental appreciation groups – bush walking clubs, snorkeling clubs, garden societies etc.
Make the area in which you live plastic bag free.
Be aware of best practice scenarios in different areas from around the world and look to implement them locally – e.g. best practice recycling programs / waste management, making electricity from methane gas. Check out the ‘Government‘ section of this website for more.
